Business Development and Transaction Manager Renewables

One of South Africa’s most successful utility-scale renewable energy developers seeks a motivated Business Development and Transaction manager to join their dynamic and passionate team based in Cape Town.

In this role you will work closely with an agile team of experienced and committed people to grow the company’s development pipeline of utility-scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar PV, hydro) in South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Requirements:

• 7-10yrs experience in wind and PV bidding, transactions and financial close.
• Commerce graduate/post grad or an engineer with a commerce post grad / MBA.
• Specific areas of experience and interest must be commercial aspects of PPAs, EPC and O&M and transaction documents (i.e. share purchase and joint development agreements).
• Understanding of the Lender process (DD and FC) important but will generally be run in collaboration with equity partners and hence role would be limited to the technical-commercial interface and commercial red flags.
• Familiarity with the outputs of financial models useful but not essential at outset (need to be learnt on the job if not already known/familiar).
• Must be a self-motivator and confident in decision making but know when to seek guidance.
• Key to this resource, unless someone joins in a contracting role, is employment equity Base CTC cap circa R1.25mil before bonus, which is success based and discretionary but can be generous in good years.
