Head of Business Development Solar C&I Full Time

Head of Business Development Solar C&I. Our client is a global developer of large-scale & commercial and industrial renewable energy projects and is currently setting up a brand new team in Cape Town.

We are now seeking candidates for the position of Head of Business Development – Solar C&I. You will have an entrepreneurial spirit and agile management experience in C&I and will have responsibility for the company’s C&I market. This is a senior level role, leading a small but dedicated team reporting to the CEO Southern Africa.

As the Head of Business Development C&I you will:

• Act as the company’s main lead for business development opportunities in the C&I sector across South Africa.
• Drive the company growth within the C&I market, using your personal professional network, you will identify opportunities to install solar power systems to C&I customers based on various financial models or enter into power purchase agreements (PPAs) to supply power to clients from larger scale solar power projects.
• Evaluate project opportunities from a technical, legal and commercial perspective.
• Co-ordinate all aspects of the deal execution process, including negotiations and finalization of all project and financing agreements.
• Lead an outstanding full customer relationship management experience and act as the key account lead for strategic customers.
• Lead and develop the wider C&I Sales team to support company growth.
• Establish the company as a partner of choice for various stakeholders in the business including local government and strategic investors.
• Support the company’s wider business development and networking efforts across South Africa.

The Right Person:

• As a member of the founding team in South Africa you will bring an entrepreneurial attitude to this role. You will need to have an interest in renewable energy, with a passion for sustainability Solutions and development impact.
• As the successful candidate, you will:Primarily you will have the ability to open doors, shape and close deals in the C&I space.
• We are looking for someone who is a team player but enjoys driving their own ship when it comes to business development and can hit the ground running.
• Be an excellent negotiator, with communication skills that enable you to negotiate and develop business with senior-level executives.
• Strong commercial mindset with a solid knowledge of project and corporate finance concepts. Have several years C&I BD Management experience in the South African market, working for an IPP, developer or utility company.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Be energetic and self-motivated, keen to be part of a team that will build a business that will become a major player in South Africa’s renewable energy space. You will need to be able and willing to travel to clients across the country.
