Job Location: Johannesburg

Our client is an employee-owned independent consultancy offering a range of professional services within the fields of Environmental, Geotechnical Engineering, GIS, Renewable Energy (solar and wind farms) & Water. With offices in South/Southern Africa and EU, the company has international experience including in many African countries. Senior Hydrogeologist/Director Role Summary: The candidate will Head up the Water Unit A registered Professional Scientist who manages complex hydrogeological projects within deadlines and budget. To be recognised by the market as an established mining hydrogeologist and grow a client base. To supervise and mentor junior staff members.

Key Work Outputs:

• Projects – Ability to manage complex groundwater projects/components
• Meet deadlines, budgets and delegates effectively
• Fieldwork and subcontractor management
• Excelled data interpretation skills and formulation of hydrogeological conceptual models
• Ensuring that all project components are conducted according to high quality standards and in a safe manner.
• Growing awareness and responsibility in assisting with overall group and unit revenue and staff resourcing Reporting -Writing and preparing proposals
• Report reviewing Marketing -Growing the network of clients. Assisting with the development of existing clients and attracting new clients Contribution to sales, including cross-selling Mentoring -Expertise and experience to a level of an independent consultant Mentoring of junior staff.

Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor of Science Honours Degree, MSc Degree in HydrogeologyPr Sci NatKnowledge/ Skills:
• Solid technical expertise in mining hydrogeology
• Good project management and report writing skills
• Good communication skills to develop client relationships
• Good client management skills Experience:
• At least 8-10 years’ experience in hydrogeology, an appropriate portion to be spent on mining projects
• Recognised expert in the market and can work independently
• Mining hydrogeology – mine water supplies, dewatering, geochemical assessments, impact assessment
• Experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects and working on large water resource studies

Personal Attributes:

• Confident Project Manager Willing to supervise and mentor junior staff
• Ability to operate outside of South Africa in multi-cultural environments
• Total Cost to Company Package will be negotiated according to the candidate’s knowledge and experience.
