Project Developer / Permitting Officer REIPPPP

Role & Responsibilities:

• The Permitting officer will be required to perform any and/or all of the following tasks
• Support project developers in the identification of new renewable energy projects for participation in the REIPPPP and/or other government backed procurement programmes.
• Manage and/or facilitate commercial negotiations for the appointment of external service providers such as Environmental assessment practitioners, town planning consultants, bird and bat specialists…
• Support the company’s participation in the upcoming rounds of the Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Program and the associated financial close processes when successful (i.e. land rights and permitting, IFC/equator principles compliance…).
• Provide support to project developers for the environmental part of due diligences of renewable energy projects.
• Manage internal costs and external consultant costs in accordance with development budgets.
• Foster working relationships with external consultants, advisors, regulatory authorities, landowners and joint venture partners, convening meetings when necessary and bringing relevant matters to the attention of colleague’s and the Head of Project Development of the company.
• Foster working relationships with the internal project teams (i.e. Finance, procurement, technical, business development, legal…).
• Keep abreast of Renewable Energy and wider power market developments, monitoring market activities in the RE sector and identifying potential opportunities for, and threats to, the company’s strategy.
• Additionally, you shall also carry out all other tasks and duties generally associated with the position to which he/she has been appointed. Shall also perform such other duties as may reasonably be required by the company from time to time. You should accept that your duties are of such a nature that you will from time to time be required to travel in order to carry it out.
• You are responsible for managing your area of responsibility in such a manner so as to ensure the effective, professional and pro-active provision of services to the clients.
• You shall at all times treat clients and/or service providers with care and respect and endeavour to avoid harm to the good name of the company or the relationship between the company and its clients.
• Candidate Profile:
• The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience -BTech, BSC science/engineering, BComAt least 5 years work experience as a renewable energy Project Developer in South AfricaSoftware program knowledge: Good master of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Teams, Global mapper is advantageous

Must be independent:

• Someone who could easily to be sent out on the field alone Strong health & safety competences Strong understanding of contract management Understanding of environmental law is advantageous Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Languages:

• Fluency in English is mandatory, conversational isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans would be advantageous Must have a driver’s license
