Group Leader of Asset Management Solar PV Full Time

The Group Leader of Asset Management Solar PV – South Africa, will have strong leadership of managing multiple MSA agreements and effective oversight of all sub-contractors and vendors across 7+ IPP projects at any one time. Preference for this role will be given to individuals that have experience in a consulting firm, working on many projects simultaneously.

Reporting into the Country Manager South Africa, you will be responsible for leading Managed Services agreements (MSA) for the largest subsidiary within the group, responsible for effectively managing and leading the South Africa MSA’s, working with a team of 40+ corporate staff, 800+ project staff and supporting wider global initiatives across other locations.

As Group Leader of Asset Management you will ensure optimal technical and financial performance of the solar PV plant portfolio, and will fulfil the role of Owner’s Representative in all PV solar plants built under Group. You will be accountable to fulfil Owner’s requirements to any lenders & Equity shareholders. You will also be accountable to ensure the company fulfils its obligations to Environmental, Regulatory & safety bodies in each market where applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for oversight of the MSA function, working closely with leaders across the business to ensure this function is a high performing business unit within the group and ensure delivery of business partners to critical project delivery timelines and agreements.
• Remotely monitor all plants SCADA to identify and address any issues immediately and reaching out to the specific site team to ensure there is a remediation plan in place.
• Manage all major contracts including land lease agreements, plant O&M, management service contracts, security & PPA.
• Oversight and management of EPC & O&M contracts and monitoring of on-site activities on day-to-day basis.
• Lead the wider Asset Management team in the various markets to ensure Asset Management are fulfilling all responsibilities and monitoring day to day activities to ensure project success.
• Accountable to maintain full record of all maintenance activities and action items/issues across all assets and track progress of same meticulously.
• Deliver annual, quarterly, and monthly performance reports and key metrics for all assets.
• Responsible for developing asset management processes and standards for Solar PV to best international practice.
• Manage annual and quarterly financial budgeting i.e., OPEX budgets.
• Oversee and ensure timely monthly Energy Export Billing & collection of payments.
• Co-ordination & management of visits to Owners, Owners Engineers, Lenders & Various 3rd party members to site. • Management of all sub-contractors / Vendor Management.
• Management of Site Administration – maintenance – records.
• Lead all Line managers, contract manager, site manager & administrative manager and all their performance tasks.

Key Experience:

• 8-10+ years’ experience as Leader in the renewable energy industry, of which 3 years must be Solar/Wind related.
• 5 years’ experience Asset Management and oversight of major contracts including land lease agreements, plant O&M, management service contracts, security & PPA.
• 3-5 years’ experience in the oversight and management of EPC & O&M contracts and monitoring of on-site activities on day-to-day basis.
• Outstanding experience in the management of multiple MSA’s, sub-contractors and vendors.
• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Electronics/Power/Project Management.

• Strategic partnership development to drive funding for ongoing new project development.
