Economic Development Manager Solar PV

Location: Cape Town Reporting to: Country Manager / Head of Management Services Salary: Between R720k – R780k per annum cost to company.

Main purpose of the role: The Economic Development Manager is primarily responsible for the oversight of all ED activities across all company sites.
Key Responsibility:The Economic Development (ED) Manager identifies and design of community projects that make a real impact. Monitors and evaluates renewable energy power plants’ ED projects in line with the plant strategic objectives.
The ED Manager oversees project implementation and participates in both O&M and Construction ED related activities. Together with the ED team, they are responsible for stakeholder management and reporting. Please note this role includes elements of Industrial Relations and EPC ED reporting management
Responsibilities include:

• Identify and design Socio-Economic and Enterprise Development projects.
• Identify project opportunities through consultation with relevant stakeholders.
• Design and document proposed projects including budget estimations.
• Present projects for approval by appropriate internal committee.
• Monitor and evaluate (M&E) SED and ED projects.
• Coordinate meetings with all relevant partners to monitor and evaluate project implementation.
• Ensure proper exit and sustainability strategy is developed for each of the projects.
• Manage stakeholder engagement – review and update stakeholder reports annually.
• Manage ED spend vs obligation as well as audits.
• Manage contractor ED reporting commitments from EPC perspective.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Management of service providers.
• Reporting to board on a quarterly basis.
• Co-ordinate reputation management programme and communication strategy.
• ED Reporting, Co-ordinate quarterly reporting to the Department of Energy for all plants.
• Co-ordinate Annexure A compilation and implementation.
• Supervise ED Officer. Structure and implement EDO’s development plan.
• Provide on and off-site support to EDO.
• Manage EDO performance.

Minimum Requirements:

Degree (Hons Preferred) in Business Administration/Sustainable Development/Development Economics or related discipline.3 – 4 years’ experience in a similar role (REIPPPP Preferred).2 years minimum staff management experience.
