O&M Manager Solar PV Full Time

O&M Manager – Solar PV. For our client we have a vacancy for an O&M Manager (GCC registered) who will be responsible for the lead plant personnel to maximize production and performance at 4 PV plants in Northern Cape x3 and Free State x1.

Qualification Required:

• Technical or Higher Engineering degree. English advance level (C1).
• At least 15 years technical experience of which 8 years in the PV industry.
• Must be a registered GCC Engineer.
• Someone with a strong project management background.
• The candidate must be willing to relocate and travel to do site visits.
• Driving license.
• Office automation knowledge.
• Training in inverters, tracker.
• Specific training in renewable energies (photovoltaic).

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Management and Contract Supervision support in terms of new EPC & DG/ES company & subsidiary projects.
• Project planning and contractor gant chart review and commentary relating to new projects.
• Site inspections / evaluations, photography and reporting, in line with prescribed company methodology, in relation to new project bidding opportunities.
• Inputs and influence over contractor selection & product sourcing / specification.
• Influence on detailed design and final product selection in terms of local site knowledge and related technical matters.
• Quality control with regards to sub-contractors including snagging.
• Give inputs to annual budgeting and contribute positively towards achieving such budgets.
• Offer business development support in terms of – demonstrations, project BoQ costings and new business proposals.
• Manage personal expenses responsibly and conservatively in terms of travel and related out of town expenditure.
• Witness and supervise the start-up commissioning and handover of EPC & DG/ES projects.
• Customer relationship management including client meetings and technical advice/support.
• Regional and international travel activities for the company.

General Tasks:

• Coordinate and manage all the technical works on site ensuring delivery of service on time and accordingly to standard: preventative & corrective.
• Management of technical staff on each site including the supervision of interviews, technical appointments, KPA’s, approve contract personnel, training, etc…
• Manage the use of company / O&M tools, vehicles, spare parts and equipment on each site ensuring minimum stock levels (where applicable), inspections, scheduled & unscheduled services / maintenance, calibrations, safe keeping, upkeep / cleaning and correct use / fit for purpose applications by trained & authorised personnel.
• Control all technical activities carried out on site including in-house staff and 3rd party contractors according to defined scope of works, timelines and prescribed Site Operating Procedures.
• Control activities relating to the delivery of the target Production Yields of each site in line with Performance Guarantees, Availability commitments & any PR Bonus and manage any faults timeously as they may occur.
• Administrative support in terms of HR including interviewing technical staff, disciplinary hearings, promotions, training and the maintenance of a positive staff morale.
• Supervise relations and promote good communication between the RCC and each sites.
• Manage and keep up to date all site technical documentation to be used by technical staff including Site Operating Procedures, drawings, equipment serial numbers etc.
• Customer relationship management in terms of technical matters arising from any site including client meetings, staff / contractor oversight, reporting and quality control functions.
• Develop and maintain quality systems and procedures in order to improve the efficiency of the operation of each site.
• Promote innovative thinking regarding continuous improvement, efficiencies, cost and time saving opportunities within the scope of the O&M contract.
• Give inputs to annual budgeting and contribute positively towards achieving such budgets.
• Offer business development support in terms of – demonstrations, project BoQ costings and new business proposals as well as supervise any technical matters relating to new projects under development.
• Set up O&M activities for new plants in new regions including the adaptation and development of local systems and procedures as well as staff training.
• Maintain a valid pilot’s license for the operation of the company Drone technology and services in line with civil aviation laws of South Africa and any other region where the need may arise.
• Always ensure the legal use of the Drone in terms of such laws, licenses and permitting in order to always be within the cover of our insurance policy & OHS requirements.
• Maintain a high level of technical knowledge of all aspects and components of solar power plants, including regulatory and legal as well as company and group product knowledge such as but not limited to; PVH trackers, PVH SCADA, IPS, ESS, Drones, Robotic Cleaners etc.
• Manage personal expenses responsibly and conservatively in terms of travel and related out of town expenditure.· Note: all of the above activities relate to all company O&M Sites where support is requested.
