Site Manager REIPPPP, Operation of Renewable Energy Assets REIPPPP

Role: Site Manager – REIPPPP Operation of Renewable Energy Assets.

Location: Port Elizabeth.

Package: Dependent on experience

Starting date: ASAP

Role & Responsibilities: As the Site Manager for Wind Operations you will form an integral part of the Site Management team to provide support to the Site and Asset Management functions across all projects that will be appointed to from time to time. You will be in charge of technical and site-specific aspects of the projects.

This Site Team are collectively responsible for:

• Enforcing HSE and Quality policies – creating an incident free team culture;
• Regular site inspections and monitoring of site activities;
• Monitoring all maintenance / construction works and ensuring compliance with site permits and standards;
• Ensuring that the plant operation and maintenance standards are met;
• Management of subcontractors (environmental consultants, technical advisors, security services etc.);Liaison with the landowners and local authorities;
• Ensuring that identified defects, issues or safety risks on site are recorded, mitigated and escalated as required;
• Supporting the Asset Manager in relation to any project permitting or incident reporting;
• Delivering regular internal inspection and operations reports;
• Operational interface with the grid operator (Eskom) and Principle Contractor;
• Fulfilling certain reporting obligations to third parties (such as Eskom);
• Organisation / filing of operational documentation;
• Basic administration duties; and Reporting to Asset Manager.
• Roles specifically assigned to the Site Manager include: HSE management in conjunction with Site Supervisor; Site inspections – the inspections will include but not limited to: wind turbine inspections, faulty main component inspections, Balance of plant inspections etc. and reporting site findings;
• Management and tracking site findings and consolidation and follow-up of identified defects;
• Verification and control of maintenance planning and works; Consolidation and tracking of plant performance KPIs, including availability;
• Allocation and monitoring of facility downtime;
• Contract management – security, land lease, H&S consultancy, vegetation control, etc ;
• On call for system events and interface with grid operator;3rd party site visit / audit facilitation;
• Review, filling and tracking of operational documentation;
• Internal reporting and preparation of external reporting;
• Keeping minutes of O&M meetings;
• Payment administration and cost follow-up;
• Logistics support for Site Supervisor;
• Regular reporting to Asset Manager.
• Reporting Relationships
• The Site Manager will report to the Head of Site Management, with a functional reporting line to the Asset Manager.
• The Site Manager will work alongside other site managers as part of the Site Team.

Qualifications and Skills:

• You will have the following skills and experience: NQF level 6 or higher in an Engineering field as a minimum,
• Minimum 5 years work experience, including experience in the wind sector,
• Ability to work independently,
• Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English; additional local language skills are an advantage,
• Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office software,
• Willingness to travel within the Eastern Cape,
• General technical acumen,
• Driver’s license
